Vision & priorities

Our priorities

The current political administration was elected in May 2010 and has set out five priorities for the borough

Making the borough safer

Through a comprehensive package of measures including creating neighbourhood enforcement teams and CCTV in crime hotspots

Securing public services

Investing in schools to improve standards and give parents better choices, investment in youth services to improve opportunities for young people, and by fighting to protect and develop the health services the borough needs.

Securing jobs and homes

Through a new partnership with local businesses and housing associations create new jobs and build 3,000 affordable homes.

Making the borough cleaner

Initiating a new 24/7 hotline to report and clear trouble-spots within 24 hours.

Actions to minimise waste and boost recycling.

Delivering value for money

Keeping council tax low and delivering efficiencies across everything we do.

The Council’s vision and strategic goals

"In 2016 Ealing will be a successful borough at the heart of West London, where everyone has the opportunity to prosper and live fulfilling lives in communities which are safe, cohesive and engaged"

This is the vision for Ealing that the council is working towards in partnership with key public sector organisations, residents, businesses, community and voluntary groups in the borough. It is being co-ordinated through the Local Strategic Partnership.

Two key plans show in detail what we will do to improve the quality of people’s lives. The Community Strategy (pdf) is about the big issues for local people, and the goals and objectives we will work together as partners to achieve in the next 10 years.

The council’s four-year Corporate Plan (pdf) sets out clearly our priorities and how we will contribute to making the vision a reality. It has specific, ambitious targets, all of which have a major positive impact on the quality of people’s lives.
