Welcome

Thank you for your interest in a senior role at Ealing Council.

Ealing is one of London’s largest boroughs and is a fascinating microcosm of the city as a whole, containing characteristics of both inner and outer London all in one place. That brings all of the opportunities and challenges of being reflective of a world class city.

The Council itself is already a high-performing organisation, demonstrating rapid and sustained improvement over several years. Most importantly, residents’ satisfaction – the ultimate test of our performance – has risen significantly in recent years and 80% of our residents now think we are doing a good job.

But this is no more than a good start to achieving our ambitions for Ealing. We want to be the highest-performing local authority, better than anyone else on any rounded measure. Crucially, we aim to ensure that the highest levels of residents’ satisfaction are achieved across all, not just some, aspects of what we do.

And these are exciting times for the Council. We know that the financial outlook, coupled with public service reform, means that the future is going to be permanently and radically different from the past.  So we are exploring and implementing new ways of delivering services and better ways of working, and continue to accelerate the pace. Above all, we are determined that, whatever the challenges of the next few years, we will make Ealing a better place to live and the Council an even more effective organisation.

The foundations for continued success are already in place. We are well organised, our plans are clear and our finances remain sound. But it’s the talent and commitment of our staff that will ultimately make the difference.

So if you join us, I will expect a lot of you. But if your ambition matches ours, if you have the ability and experience to succeed, and you share our energy, passion and optimism, you will find Ealing an excellent place to work.

I am proud and privileged to work for Ealing Council; if you’re good enough to be part of our team, you will be too.

Housing ALMO staff transfer back to the Council

From 1 April the management of the borough’s housing stock came back under the direct control of Ealing Council.

Housing was previously managed by Ealing Homes, an Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO).

Up to 300 staff working for Ealing Homes have transferred to the council under TUPE employment regulations.  The council expects to make significant savings on leasing office accommodation in the future by moving Ealing Homes staff to the council’s main Perceval House offices.

New HR and Payroll system to go live

An improved HR and Payroll system is shortly due to be introduced in several phases. The new ‘iTrent’ system responds to feedback from staff and will be easy-to-navigate and accessible 24/7 via the internet and intranet.

Staff will be able to view pay details, update personnel records, book training and request leave. Managers will have facilities for initiating and monitoring recruitment campaigns in real time.

From November 2011, the second phase will include additional features and facilities for performance management, management reporting tools and occupational health processes.
